Global Missions
Spring/Summer 2008
(Updated 4/28/2008)
The Youth and Sending
Team are joining together to work on our Global Mission trip for
this spring and summer. Instead of one big trip during the
summer Pastor DJ and the Sending Team decided that we had a
mission opportunity just miles down the road from us with the
flooding this fall in Centralia and Chehalis. We have
started to make regular trips down on about an every other month
basis with great participation and great success. But, our
goal this summer is to set a new record on the number of people
from Faith to participate. We assure you that once you
have participated you will be deeply affected.
We have another one
day trip scheduled for
Saturday, May 3rd
and another on
Saturday, June 28th.
Both of these days are a one day commitment for about ten to
twelve hours including travel time. Then our week long
mission commitment is from
Monday, July 14th through Saturday, July 19th.
But, what is going to be different about this trip is that you
will not have to sign up for the entire week. Since this
location is only about two hours away you will be able to let us
know what amount of commitment you will be able to give...one
day, two days, go down and stay for three or more days? No
experience necessary, a willing heart is all that is required.
Please stay tuned for
more details in the upcoming month or so. If you have
questions please contact Pastor DJ or Susan Graham.
Update on Tent City 4
(Updated 4/28/2008)
As you may recall the Issaquah area sponsored Tent City 4
this past August through October. It has now moved on to
another location but that doesn't mean that they no longer need
our help. They are currently in need of the following
supplies at their camp: cups, spoons. pepper, milk, sugar,
creamer, coffee, chili, white bread for sandwiches, honey,
lemon, herbal teas, hot chocolate, sugar free hot chocolate, hot
cider mix, lemonade and fruit punch mix, eggs. They are
well supplied with most canned goods at this time but we will
continue to keep you posted. Look for the bucket in the
Narthex marked Tent city 4 for you to place your donations.
Thank you in advance for your wonderful support!

Cookies For KAIROS
(Updated
4/20/2008)
Kairos is a Greek word meaning an
opportune or special time. We translate it "God's Special Time." A
special time for 42 inmates to attend a three-day seminar on Christianity,
learning about the love has for them. Kairos is an ecumenical ministry
that has been adapted to the prison environment. The ministry team is made
up of volunteers who have attended a similar three-day seminar (Walk to Emmaus,
Cursillo, etc.)
During the
weekend each prison will be flooded with home baked cookies each
day -- so for each Kairos, 4,000 - 8,000 dozen cookies are
needed!! God uses these cookies to bring the inmates to
Him; some of the inmates comes to Kairos just for the cookies --
That's OK! -- As they fill their stomachs with fresh cookies,
the Kairos experience fills their souls with the love of God!
What can you do??
Bake
sturdy cookies which won't crumble or stick together.
Prior to packing cookies, let them
rest over night, so they won't stick together.
No cookies rolled or sprinkled in
powdered or granulated sugar, no larger then 3 inches, no frosting, nutmeg, or
poppy seeds please.
Pray
as you bake. Ask God to bless those receiving the cookies.
Pack
carefully in ziplock bags in quantities of up to 4 dozen each. (no twist-ties or
foil - won't pass through the scanners.)
Please
bring
your cookies to church by
Sunday, May
11th.

Collecting Old

Domestic Violence Program. Please drop them off in the
sanctuary's recycle bin or bring to the Talbert building.
Notes from Kathryn and staff of
ITBP/FMDO
(Updated 4/28/2008)
I know that I am loved at .....May News
As I sit here and type this
article for you, I am watching the snow fall and it make's me
wonder if we are going to have cold summer or hot summer!
I wonder what God is up to in the
Pacific Northwest? I am happy to wait t see what He brings
for the summer months...I have an 'in' with some nice folks down
in Arizona if I need to get warmed up and some sun color, just
in case!
May is another exciting month in
the life of your preschool ministry as we honor our Mothers with
teas, raise money for our scholarship fund that ends with a Art
Gallery and Silent Auction on the 22nd, put on our 2nd Spring
Concert (Which by the way, you are all invited to: May19th
@12:30pm in the Sanctuary) and re-certification training in CPR
& First Aid on the 27th for our staff. We do all this in
conjunction with serving over 100 students daily in their normal
class routines. It seems like a crazy busy time for the
staff but we wouldn't have it any other way! It is part of
why we are drawn to serve in this Christian ministry because we
are able to give of ourselves like Mother's do for their
children, as we teach to these young children to grow and
develop into knowing God and being lifelong learners.
We would like to wish all of the
Mother's, here at Faith a truly wonderful Mother's Day filled
with love and joy from the ones that are dear to your heart.
Happy Mother's Day, Ladies
Much Grace and Many Blessings
with lots of love,
Kathryn and the devoted & gifted
staff of ITBP/FMDO
