A man of Sorrows and familiar with suffering."

ISAIAH 53:3

25th A quarter of a century.....

Not a real long time, but long enough to make a difference in the community.  That's how long Faith United Methodist Church has been serving the Issaquah and Sammamish area.  There has been so much more that has take place than simply erecting a building and conducting worship services!  God really has been making a difference in the area through the lives and faithful service of the people of this church!  Great Job, Faith UMC!!

Many have come to faith in Christ at this church.  Literally, hundreds of baptisms have taken place here.  Weddings, funerals, seminars and special events are all too numerous to mention.  Many other people have found this to be a place where one can put down spiritual roots through Disciple bible study, adult classes and experiences in Christian service. This is a place to grow spiritually.  And this is a place that can grow numerically.  If we pursue our own spiritual health, we will always be led by God's Spirit out into the community to meet the needs of people whose life circumstances leave them lacking the support they need to survive and be healthy.  People want to be part of a church that is making a difference in the world.  I believe we are that kind of church.

We have more to lean about what it means to be the church in the 21st century.  We can't meet the needs of the whole world but we can meet the needs of some.  We can't be the church that is attractive to everyone, but we can be the church that is attractive to many.  The kind of church that is driven by a vision of God's calling and a clear sense that we all have a role to play in being the church God wants us to become.  I believe we can be a church whose average attendance is above 400 each week,  (We had 380 this past week!)  Be ready to meet some new people and help them find their place in service to God.

To those of you who are charter members, we want to say thank you.  Thank you for being people of vision and faith in the early 1980's and stepping up to shoulder the responsibility to build and expand and provide places where children can learn about Jesus and adults can discover the face of Christ in places they never thought possible, and where youth can explore mission work and keep their commitment to the Lord as disciples.

The future is bright because the past has been FAITH-FILLED.  We honor those who have worked to raise up this church by working hard to help this church grow and live faithfully into the purposes of Jesus Christ...being people of compassion, being people of love and acceptance, being people who are willing to give and sacrifice for the sake of something greater than themselves...Faith United Methodist Church!

Happy Birthday to us!

You Pastor and Friend,

John A. Brewer
