Our preschool program serves children from ages 20 months to 5 1⁄2 year of age.

Your Child’s class assignment depends on the age of your child on or before August 31, 2010.

Phi losophy and Program

We offer a theme-based program that emphasizes building social skills through multi-cultural experiences, enhancing self-esteem, and developing the child’snatural creativity through reading, music, arts & crafts, informal and structured play. We will give your child many opportunities to play and explore in a warm, nurturing, loving and Christian environment.
We focus on physical, intellectual, social, emotional and creative development. We provide a child centered program and age appropriate activities. Our commitment is to the child.
heart_3Curriculum Description:

In the Beginning Preschool & Faith Mother’s Day Out uses a structured approach based on a theme which includes center time activities, sensory activities, craft & art time, music, circle time, gross and fine motor skills development and active play.
The classrooms are arranged into distinct interest areas; which consist of dramatic play, blocks, sensory, science, library area and manipulative and creative art.

And these words which I command you this day shall be upon your heart; and you shall talk to them when you sit in your house, and when you walk, by the way,  and when you lie down and when you rise.

In addition to our daily class routines, our ministry offers our students:
3 special programs:

heart-2 Mondays
Sing, Swing & Sway: An introduction to various types of music and identifying different type of musical instruments by sight and sound. They will gain awareness of rhythmic understanding though creative movement to songs, learn to sign with songs and have fun learning about music!

heart_3 Tuesday
Jump, Jiggle & Jog: An introduction to sports such as soccer, gymnastics, balloon, volleyball, badminton, basketball, T-Ball, bowling, mini-golf and noodle polo. These sports will enhance their gross-motor skills, balance, coordination and awareness about good sportsmanship, team work, learning respect for self and others and hot to be ‘fit’ and have fun doing it!

Chapel Time: As a Christian Preschool we focus on teaching basic Christian values and principles throughout our program.  We bring specific attention to this way of life though attending our weekly Chapel Time to hear God’s Word coming alive through the message, music and community.
heart-2Our Preschool Advisory Team
This team is comprised of the Director, Treasurer, Teacher Representative (& alternate), 2 – 3 non-church member representatives and 2-3 church and/or parent representative all serving a 2 year term. This team helps to shape policies that keep the ministry progressive and in line with our Christian faith, supports the Director, as well as, help solve issues that arise. Meet the first Tuesday every 2 months.

Parents are offered an opportunity and encouraged to volunteer in their child’s
classroom which means opportunities will vary from class to class and is age appropriate
to maximize the learning environment.

These committees serve the needs of our preschool community. The 3 committees below serve the needs of our community:

  • Adopt-A-Child Holiday Magic Program (DHSH) and FUMC's outreach events such as Habitat, Homeless donations, ESDV cell phones collection, various food drives, etc.
  • Child Haven-Supporting mothers of newborns all year long with monthly drives of needed items.
  • Easter Basket & Food Drive-Supporting 21- 28 children who are part of the Eastside Domestic Violence program with Easter Baskets. In conjunction with this drive we also help the Issaquah Food & Clothing Bank with a non-perishable food each spring to restock their shelves.

The Preschool also will help Faith by collecting money or items for groups they are supporting like Tent City 4 in the fall of 2007.

  • September is our Welcome Orientation and Ice Cream Social evening prior to the start of school
  • October is our annual ‘ Daddy & Me’ Pumpkin carving event.
  • December is our annual Christmas Pageant
  • April is our annual Volunteer Appreciation Brunch/event
  • May is our Mother’s Day Teas and Spring Concert
  • June is the Bunnies promotion and the Lions, Hippos and Elephants graduation
heart_3 Field Trips:
Each class goes to on a fall field trip and one spring field trip off campus each year. Also to enhance the learning environment, we host several in-house field trips such as the Firefighters and Police. The Staff may also have there very own mini-in house field trips or special visitors depending on our parents’ skills/ talents and who we know in the community at large.
