Deaconess Children’s Home

Giving Tree

General Description – Each Christmas Season the church supports the Deaconess Children’s Services in providing Christmas Gifts for needy families in the Puget Sound area. A Christmas tree is placed in the narthex and gift requirements for individuals and families are placed on the tree. Faith members choose those persons for whom they wish to purchase gifts, acquire the gifts and return them to the church. The gifts are then grouped by family and returned to Deaconess Children’s Services where they are wrapped and delivered to the families.

Volunteer Opportunities – This project requires a limited number of volunteers. The event coordination team interfaces with Deaconess to get requirements, sets up (and takes down) the tree, collects and groups gifts and returns them to Deaconess. The youth of the church usually put together the gift request cards which are hung on the tree.
