Relationships Series

God created us to be in relationship with one another, but all human relationships are messy and challenging at times. In this 4-week series, we’ll explore wisdom from the Bible that can help all relationships become holier and healthier.

Week 1: Communication (April 23, 2017)

Rev. Elizabeth Ingram Schindler, Lead Pastor

The first key to healthy relationships is good, healthy communication: the words we speak have the power to heal or the power to hurt; how we use them is up to us.

Week 2: Conflict (April 30, 2017)

Rev. Elizabeth Ingram Schindler, Lead Pastor

At some point, there will be conflict in every relationship. We will not always agree. But the Bible does give instructions on how to resolve conflict in a holy, healthy way.

Week 3: Forgiveness (May 7, 2017)

Rev. Elizabeth Ingram Schindler, Lead Pastor

Each of us has hurt someone, and each of us has been hurt by someone. Every human relationship requires forgiveness. We are forgiven by God more often, and for more mistakes, than we can even wrap our minds around: God requires us to offer such generous forgiveness to each other, as well; but all of us struggle with forgiveness.

Week 4: Commitment (May 14, 2017)

Rev. Elizabeth Ingram Schindler, Lead Pastor

Even the most compatible people don’t automatically have easy relationships that last for decades: we all have to work at it. And the thing that matters most in long-term relationships just might be sheer commitment: a decision to work through problems together, to stick together through thick and thin, not to give up when conflict arises or things get difficult. This morning we look at the story of Ruth and Naomi as an example of a pair who stuck together and became part of the lineage of Jesus.
