Year of Yes Sermon Series

Often, we say “yes” or “no” to things without really thinking. Sometimes we say “no” to everything because we feel too busy, or because we’re too afraid to say “yes.” Other times, we say “yes” to everything because we want to please others, or because we’re afraid of missing out. But what if we were more intentional about our “yes’s” and our “no’s.” What is God calling you to say “yes” to in 2018?

Week 1: Yes to Joy (Epiphany Sunday – January 7, 2018)

Rev. Elizabeth Ingram Schindler, Lead Pastor

The magi in the Christmas story offer us one way to live, and Herod offers another: Herod lives in fear, acts out of fear, and rules with fear. But the magi embrace the journey to find Jesus, and along the way, are overwhelmed with joy. How might we say “yes” to the journey, and “yes” to joy in this new year?

Week 2: Yes to Rest (January 14, 2018)

Rev. Elizabeth Ingram Schindler, Lead Pastor

Most of us would like to be less busy, but we find it too difficult to slow down when the pace of life around us keeps speeding up and encouraging us to work more, achieve more, make more, and consume more. But what if we took the command to Sabbath seriously and just stopped, one day a week? How might this transform our lives and the life of the world?
